What is Cancel for Any Reason?

Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) is an optional upgrade that reimburses part of your trip cost when you cancel for a reason the plan does not otherwise cover, such as changing your mind.

• It pays 50% or 75% of your insured prepaid, non-refundable trip cost, depending on the plan.
• You must buy it within 14 or 21 days of your first trip payment.
• You must cancel at least 48 hours (2 days) before departure.
• It is not part of the plans we offer to New York residents; the WorldTrips New York plans offer Cancel for Fortuitous Reasons.

How much do I get back with Cancel for Any Reason?

Up to 75% of your insured prepaid, non-refundable trip cost on Travel Insured Deluxe and Platinum and on Trawick Pathway Premier. WorldTrips Atlas Journey offers a choice of 50% or 75%.

It never pays 100%. It reimburses the stated percentage of the non-refundable payments you lose, and refunds or credits from the supplier are taken into account.

How late can I cancel with Cancel for Any Reason?

You must cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure on Travel Insured and WorldTrips, and at least 2 days before on Trawick Pathway Premier. Cancelling later than that is not covered by this upgrade.

What are the conditions to qualify for Cancel for Any Reason?

You must buy the upgrade within the plan's time-sensitive period after your first trip payment, be able to travel when you buy it, and cancel at least 48 hours before departure.

• Travel Insured Deluxe: within 14 days; only for trips costing up to $37,500 per person. Platinum: within 21 days; up to $112,500 per person.
• Trawick Pathway Premier: within 21 days; insure all prepaid, non-refundable costs and add later arrangements within 15 days; cancel the entire trip.
• WorldTrips Explore and Elevate: within 21 days; insure 100% of the known trip cost; only for trips costing up to $50,000 per person.

The Travel Insured and WorldTrips upgrades do not pay when the travel supplier itself fails to provide the trip. Availability also depends on your state.

Can I add Cancel for Any Reason later?

Only while you are still inside the plan's time-sensitive period (14 or 21 days from your first trip payment). After that it can no longer be added.

Which plans offer Cancel for Any Reason?

Cancel for Any Reason is an optional upgrade on Travel Insured Deluxe and Platinum, Trawick Pathway Premier, and WorldTrips Atlas Journey Explore and Elevate.

• Not offered on Trawick Pathway Plus.
• Not part of the plans we offer to New York residents. WorldTrips Atlas Journey Preferred and Premier offer Cancel for Fortuitous Reasons in New York.
• WorldTrips has told us it does not offer this upgrade for trips to Israel.

What is Interruption for Any Reason?

Interruption for Any Reason is an optional upgrade that reimburses part of your unused trip cost if you end your trip early for a reason the plan does not otherwise cover.

• Travel Insured Deluxe and Platinum: 75%, part of the Cancel/Interruption for Any Reason bundle; you must interrupt 72 hours or more after departure.
• Trawick Pathway Premier (not its New York version): 75%; 48 hours or more after departure; you must end the whole remaining trip.
• WorldTrips Atlas Journey Elevate: 50%; 48 hours or more after departure.

It must be bought within the plan's time-sensitive period, and Trawick and WorldTrips also require that you insured the full trip cost.

If I have Cancel for Any Reason, do I still get 100% for a covered reason?

Yes. A cancellation for a reason the plan lists is handled under the standard trip cancellation benefit, which pays up to 100% of your insured trip cost. Cancel for Any Reason applies only when your reason is not otherwise covered.

Is there a maximum trip cost for Cancel for Any Reason?

Yes. Each plan makes the upgrade available only for trips up to a per-person cost.

• Travel Insured Deluxe: $37,500 per person. Platinum: $112,500 per person.
• WorldTrips Explore and Elevate: $50,000 per person.
• WorldTrips New York plans (Cancel for Fortuitous Reasons): $150,000 per person.
• Trawick Pathway Premier: no limit is stated in the plan document.

A trip above the limit cannot have the upgrade at all.

If I make more trip payments later, do I need to add them to keep Cancel for Any Reason?

Yes. To keep the upgrade valid, arrangements you add to your trip later must be added to the plan within a set time: within 15 days of paying for them on Trawick Pathway Premier and within 21 days on WorldTrips Atlas Journey.

Is Cancel for Any Reason available in New York?

Cancel for Any Reason insurance is not part of the plans we offer to New York residents. Instead, WorldTrips Atlas Journey Preferred and Premier offer an upgrade called Cancel for Fortuitous Reasons (CFFR).

• Preferred: 75% of trip cost. Premier: your choice of 50% or 75%.
• Buy within 21 days of your first trip payment, be able to travel when you buy it, and cancel 48 hours or more before departure. Premier also requires that you insured 100% of the known trip cost.
• Only for trips costing up to $150,000 per person.
• WorldTrips has told us it does not offer this upgrade for trips to Israel.

Travel Insured's New York plan document also describes a separate, non-insurance Cancel for Any Reason waiver sold by Travel Insured. Ask a licensed agent about it: info@travallamains.com.

What does Cancel for Fortuitous Reasons mean?

It is not the same as Cancel for Any Reason. The WorldTrips New York plans define a fortuitous event as one that could not have been reasonably foreseen or expected, is out of your control, and is reasonably expected to cause the cancellation of your trip.

The plan document gives no examples, and the insurance company decides whether a reason qualifies. Ask a licensed agent if you have a specific situation in mind.
